Improve your balance, coordination and mobility with Rock Steady Boxing
Who It’s For
Rock Steady Boxing is a unique, research-based fitness program created specifically for individuals living with Parkinson’s disease. It is open to men and women of all ages and at all stages of the condition. Whether you are newly diagnosed or have been managing symptoms for years, Rock Steady Boxing provides a safe and supportive space where you can work toward improving both your physical abilities and overall confidence.
Unlike traditional fitness classes, Rock Steady Boxing is tailored to the needs of people with Parkinson’s. Each session is guided by trained coaches who understand the challenges of the disease and know how to adapt exercises to every ability level. This makes the program accessible to beginners as well as to those who already have some fitness experience.
How It Works
The program is non-contact and inspired by the training methods of professional boxers — but without any actual fighting. Participants never hit each other. Instead, they train using heavy bags, speed bags, focus mitts, footwork drills, agility ladders, and a variety of functional exercises.
Each class typically combines:
- Boxing drills that stimulate coordination and rhythm.
- Strength training to build endurance and power.
- Balance and agility exercises to reduce fall risk.
- Stretching and mobility routines to ease stiffness and improve flexibility.
Sessions are designed to be challenging but safe, always respecting individual limits. Coaches encourage participants to push themselves in a supportive, empowering environment, helping them feel stronger and more in control of their movements.
Proven Benefits
Studies and real-life experience show that Rock Steady Boxing delivers meaningful, measurable benefits for people with Parkinson’s. Participants often notice improvements in both motor and non-motor symptoms, including:
- Better balance, posture, and coordination in daily activities.
Increased strength, stamina, and energy levels. - Reduction of motor symptoms like slowness, tremors, and stiffness.
- Improved mobility and independence, making everyday tasks easier.
- Boosted confidence, resilience, and emotional well-being.
- A strong sense of community and support, training alongside others who truly understand the challenges of living with Parkinson’s.
